Move To Joy’s Story
This journey of ours has been very interesting as we have been learning and experiencing the different ways that God “speaks” to us…
I was tidying our room and was going through my basket of books and old papers. I picked up aMars Hill sermon note from last year. During that service’s worship, I heard God speak to me for the first time, saying, “I am Faithful, my daughter”. I read the notes that I took during the sermon and the first thing I saw was, “God has made it known to us the mystery of His Will” and the word, “unity”. I thought it interesting since we had been praying together for God’s will to be known to us and through that Justin and I had become more “united”…almost as if we are actually getting somewhere in the faith journey!
I continued on with my cleaning and began humming a song and at the chorus I realized that it was Great Is Thy Faithfulness. “Interesting,” I thought. I was not the brightest that day and hadn’t put two and two together yet! I again continued cleaning and moved the rock I had painted without even thinking, and finally picked it up and turned it over to reveal it’s word–FAITH.
I sat down on our bed and prayed, “Lord, what are you trying to show me?”. I look out the window and heard Him answer, “Move to joy”. Wow! I finally got it. He was showing me that our journey through faith was moving to a journey of His joy. I am so glad that he continued to show me that he is working in us, even though I was blind to His promptings.
So, with the message still ringing in my ear, I call and tell Justin that our journey has now been titled, “Move to Joy”. Justin’s response was, “Yesterday in the car I prayed that God would move us to Traverse City because that is joy to us”. Hmmm. So, did he mean move to our journey of Joy or move to Joy? It is exciting to wait and see how God continues to direct us. My theory is he spoke to both Justin and me in the ways that touch our hearts the best and letting us both know that he is actively speaking and leading us.
